![]() Wishing to learn more about her and her methods, he offered a reward for even a single drop of her blood. Īfter her second death, Jentulf heard the tale of the Countess, and the blood ritual that had resurrected her. The Countess drove the Bloodsworn forward, but the hero(es) slew them, and confronted the Countess herself, slaying her in turn, and her Worldstone shard retrieved. The hero(es) later stormed the Forgotten Tower. However, it was not enough, and the Blood Rose was slain. From afar, she summoned simulacrums from the pool of blood the monstrosity resided in, to aid in its fight against the hero(es) that were attacking it. When Lakrii fed herself to the Blood Rose, her blood was apparently enough to finally fully revive the Countess. She ordered that they flee the Dark Wood before she decided they no longer could. She was defeated, but the Countess was unperturbed, stating that the blood of her servants returned to her upon their deaths, so that even her foes' victories hastened her return. The Countess reappeared to her foe(s) in the Fetid Swamp via some form of magical projection, where she ordered that Vassarici kill them. Yet even this was not enough to restore the Countess fully, and she ordered the Bloodsworn to hasten their efforts, lest they lose her favor. ![]() The Bloodsworn themselves razed the town of Blackstone to the ground, gathered the blood of every man, woman, and child, and through some kind of ritual, infused their mistress with it. As long as it continued to feed her blood, the Countess would not die. The roots of the Blood Rose ran through the Dark Wood, feeding her with blood spilt within the forest. The Bloodsworn set about collecting blood for her in an effort to restore her to her former glory. The strongest of the Bloodsworn remained in the tower, acting as her protectors. Furthermore, a Worldstone shard came into the Countess's possession, which she wore around her neck. ![]() You can do this on bnet, but since the maps change with every new game, it's really not efficient.Six years later, the Countess was resurrected by a group of cultists called the Bloodsworn, who served as her followers. Carry some flawless gems with you but no other, lower gems, and when you find the gem shrine, hitting it will upgrade one of the gems in your inventory/backpack to a perfect gem. Basically, you run and rerun The Stony Field, The Dark Wood, and The Black Marsh looking for "Gem" Shrines. On SP, you can engage in Gem Shrine Farming. Oh, btw, for gems, see option 1 up there. For reasons that I don't recall right now, her rune drop is best in a solo game. Always (.after the first "quest" drop) run the Countess solo on bnet or on /players1 in SP. In Hell, though, she's really not that great as she can't drop the highest runes. The Countess is a good way to get low to mid runes throughout Normal, Nightmare, and Hell. You always know exactly where the council will be when you join a game. One of the best features, though, is that the map is static. The council in Travincal have a decent chance to drop a lot of good items (runes, charms, jewelry, and facets, for example). It has a higher area level, so it can drop higher runes than LK, but it only has at most 2 such chests. This area has up to 6 "super chests," which have a decent chance to drop high(er) runes. The highest rune I've found in SP is Cham in The Glacial Trail (which has area level 83). The highest rune I've ever found on bnet was Sur in the WSK. edit: champions and elites in those areas can drop any item in the game). The Pit in Act 1, The Ancient Tunnels in Act 2, The River of Flame in Act 4, the Worldstone Keep in Act 5) as they can drop any rune (or nearly any, my memory is fuzzy. Really, just play the character you like most in the highest level area that you can clear quickly. To be fair, though, the OP didn't specify higher runes. The Countess is not the best source of higher runes. The one with the lowest rating is correct. Some of the answers here aren't very good.
